Board Member

William (Bill) Worek is a Senior Energy Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory. He has worked in the energy efficiency area for more than 40 years. First in solar energy, then thermally activated components and systems. While Bill was at the University of Illinois – Chicago (UIC), he directed one of DOE’s Industrial Assessment Centers and he helped form the first CHP Applications Center, now termed one of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) CHP Technical Assistance Partnerships (CHP TAPs). Bill’s expertise is in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in energy/thermal sciences. He is a recognized leader in the areas of energy components and systems, and heat and mass transfer processes. He is Coeditor of Marks’ Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers and Editor of the Handbook of Heat Transfer. Currently, Bill is working on a DOE’s BENEFIT project led by Baryon Inc. to develop a “Super-Efficient Air-Conditioner”. On that project, UIC and Oak Ridge National Laboratory are team members. Bill is looking forward to assisting other MEEA Members on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and social justice projects in the areas of R&D analysis and technical support.
