Authorized by – Regulation. The Fire Prevention & Building Safety Commission is responsible for the adoption of building energy codes.

Oversight – Code oversight is done by the Indiana Fire Prevention & Building Safety Commission.

Code Change Process – Regulatory. Code development is done by the commission's Building Code Review Committee and the Residential Code Review Committee. Recommendations from the committee are approved by the commission and then must be approved by the Office of Management and Budget. The rule changes then go into Indiana's new rule review process, eventually being approved by the Governor's Office.

Code Change Cycle – There is no set schedule for code adoption in Indiana.

Compliance

Enforcement – Code enforcement is the duty of local code officials who are certified by the Fire Prevention & Building Safety Commission.
