Sara Conzemius is a Founding Advisor and Co-Owner at ILLUME Advising LLC a research and strategy consulting firm that serves the energy industry through cutting-edge social and data-science research services. Sara is an expert in the design and implementation of customer-sided energy programs and is an awarded industry leader who provides guidance on program design, market transformation, policy, research and EM&V strategy for utilities, states, and private entities. She has provided legislative and commission testimony in multiple states and supported the development of national legislation intended to support energy efficiency in U.S. homes.
Sara has served in multiple industry leadership roles, including as a founding board member for the Program for the Evaluation and Assessment of Residential Lighting (PEARL), Member and then Chairperson of the Board for the Association of Energy Service Professionals (AESP), Chairperson of the Energy Efficiency Working Group for the Dane County Office of Energy and Climate, advisor on the development of the State of Wisconsin’s Climate Action Plan’s Equity First directive and as a Green Ribbon Commissioner supporting the development of the State of Wisconsin’s first Green Bank. Sara has received multiple prestigious industry awards for her dedication to and work on behalf of the industry including the Michael C. Thompson Award presented by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for her dedication to the energy efficiency industry, and the B.H. Prassad award for her work on behalf of AESP. In addition to her work in energy and the environment Sara and her family have founded and run the Japhet Family Foundation, a philanthropic foundation that supports economic development by providing for the educational needs of children and young adults in Kenya.
