Senior Associate, Building Codes & Policy

Natalie Newman is a Senior Associate on MEEA’s Building Codes & Policy team. With a focus on stakeholder engagement, she is responsible for outreach and collaboration with diverse partners across MEEA's initiatives.

Natalie manages complex projects advancing building codes and energy efficiency - from federal efforts like Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation (RECI) and the Buildings Upgrade Prize (Buildings UP), to state-based initiatives like Energy Efficiency for All (EEFA). Natalie leverages her policy knowledge in work with coalitions and community-based organizations, building capacity across our network.

Before joining MEEA, Natalie was a recruiter at a large international law firm, organizing a yearly summer associate program. She is a trained community organizer and previously worked for the Illinois chapter of the Sierra Club on both issue and political campaigns. Most recently, Natalie lived in Madrid, Spain, and studied Spanish.

Natalie earned a B.A. in Environmental Policy and Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. In her spare time, Natalie enjoys practicing yoga, cooking and eating delicious food, and using public transit to explore new cities.
